Portland Notes: Feb. 9, 2007
- Portland looks to have made it into the top slots in two more national lists. We placed ninth in fittest cities in America, according to Men’s Fitness magazine. We also ranked ninth in top cities for independent filmmakers, according to MovieMaker Magazine.
- Construction on the new IKEA near the airport seems to be coming along nicely, according to a press release put out by the company. All major walls have been raised on the 280,000 square-foot store, which will host 1,200 parking spots, 75 bike racks (how will that work for getting furniture home?), 50 different room settings, three complete model homes and a 250-seat restaurant serving Swedish specialties such as meatballs with lingonberries or salmon plates.
- It seems to be film festival mania at the moment here in Portland, according to travel blog Jaunted. The Reel Music Festival is wrapping up while the Portland International Film Festival is gearing up for action through Feb. 25.
- The Portland Mercury has a write up on a new Portland travel guide. The Zinester’s Guide to Portland is described as “sharing the interesting and unique things that make Stumptown great, and also helping people get by that aren’t swimming in scads of money.”
