Review: The Alibi might offer the best kitsch in Portland, with tiki torches, hula girls and the most overworked karaoke box around. Add in a drink list that includes more than a dozen sweet, tropical specialties and you’re set for a night of entertainment.

If you plan on making a night of hanging out at the Alibi, get there early and expect not to sing until late. The best booths are the high backed ones in the bar, with prime heckling view of the inebriated crooners.

The bar itself is not hard to miss – a massive sign directs you to the spot from half a mile down Interstate. The crowd is one of the youngest and most laid back in Portland.

The Alibi is a popular stopping off point for bachelorette parties and is conveniently located on the yellow MAX line. The surprisingly large menu includes an array of dishes, none of which I sampled. But then again, you didn’t come here to eat, did you?
